Persecution of Christians in Uganda: the murder of Yusuf Kintu is yet another example, among very many we have highlighted here at ChristianPersecution.com, of converts to Christianity being singled out for persecution. Making matter even worse is the fact that any family members of Yusuf Kintu who might be sympathetic to him, and the Christians who are his friends and associates, can expect little help from authorities in this matter, as they are likely to be either sympathetic to those who attacked him, or afraid of incurring their wrath themselves. This is one of the reasons why Christian persecution worldwide is escalating: in all too many countries around the world, authorities tacitly approve of the attacks on Christians or actively instigate them, or else are afraid of standing up to the persecutors.
Among the Christians of Uganda are around 35,000 Orthodox Christians. Please pray for perseverance and strength of faith for them and all of Uganda’s Christians.

“Christian convert killed in Mayuge district,” by Aaron Sseruyigo, Uganda Christian News, January 12, 2021:
Yusuf Kintu, a 41-year-old former Imam of Macca Mosque in Dolwe Island, Mayuge district was attacked and killed by a Muslims mob a few days after he renounced Islam to follow Christ.
International Christian Concern (ICC), a persecution watchdog located in Washington, DC, whose concern is the human rights of Christians and religious minorities, released a report yesterday confirming Kintu’s death.
The organisation said the father of four (4) succumbed to his injuries on December 7, 2020 after he was seriously beaten and left unconscious by a local Muslim community in the area that was upset in him for leaving Islam and becoming a Christian.
Speaking out on the tragic incident, Pastor Andrew Nyanma of the Full Gospel church Dolwe, told ICC Yusuf had put his faith in Christ on 30th November 2020 after hearing the gospel message.
He explained, “We had been talking on several occasions but he was so argumentative when we touched on matters related to faith. He was a brilliant Muslim Imam but also respected other people’s faith. On this day, he was calm and receptive. He gave me humble time to explain to him why Christ is the only way to the Father. He repented of his sins and committed to following Christ.”
Yusuf and his family were living in a house close to the Mosque where he was an Imam. Three days after he got saved, his wife Hashfa divorced him and left with two of their young children to her father’s home in Bugiri District. She left behind the two older children, Abudkriim 19, and Sauda 16.
“He was seriously beaten and left unconscious. His older son and daughter were not able to help him immediately, until morning when Pastor Andrew arrived and took him to the hospital. He later died while receiving care at the hospital,” ICC quotes one witness as saying….
