“Pastor recounts gunmen attack on ECWA church in Kabba,” by Yekini Jimoh-Lokoja, Nigerian Tribune, September 25, 2021:

The pastor of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), in Kabba Pastor Matthew Atayi has narrated how the gunmen invaded the church, leaving one member killed and abducting three other members.

Some gunmen attacked the Church situated along the Kabba-Okene expressway on Sunday morning while service was ongoing.

Narrating his first-hand experience, Pastor Atayi said the gunmen invaded the Church and immediately started shooting sporadically, while he escaped.

“The kidnappers stormed the church while I was conducting the call to worship, and they were shooting sporadically. They disrupted the service, and I escaped from the church by running.

“One of the abductors chased me and ordered me to stop, but I refused to stop. I kept falling while running, but I did not stop running. I returned to the Church after I realized that no one was chasing me.”

He said he found the corpse of the killed member when he finally returned to the Church….
